Kindergarten Rhyming
Today I finished my lesson for my kindergarten rhyming activity. Here is my TIE plan for my lesson. When the students were playing around on the Google Doc. they had a blast picking their own colors and font! Every time they clicked on the color button you would hear them say, "WOW! Look at all the colors! This is cool." A lot of my students were absent the day we did this activity which is why there are only 15 words. The students also thought it was neat how everyone could be on the same screen at the same time. The only problems I did have with the Google Doc was that most of my students did not know how to spell their word so I did have to help them with that. Other than that problem they did really well and enjoyed the activity. After the they created Google Doc I then went home and turned it into a presentation so that I could up load it into voice threads. When the students were recording their sentence about their word, they seemed a little confused until it started playing back for them and you just saw their faces light up and a huge smile was put on their faces. They did a really good job of clicking the record button and saying their sentence. The only problem we really had was them trying to create some of the sentences and you will notice that in voice thread. Some of them felt a little shy and lost their sentence but then they felt comfortable when we tried it a few times. The students loved the end product and really had fun doing everything that went into the project.

Sorry the links are not clear on here the words that are linked to my pages are TIE, Google Doc., presentation, and recording. I hope you enjoy what my students have put together!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your google doc/voice thread. What a wonderful idea! They get to view their presentation and record thheir voices. I'm glad your students enjoyed the activity.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a good outcome with your technology lesson. Your idea is really great! I'm also glad to hear that your students enjoyed the activity.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great idea for Kinder! I wish I would have thought of this for mine. I just used VoiceThread. My students are very inexperienced when it comes to computers, so I don't know if this would have worked as well with my class. Although, I could've been the one to start them out early just like you did! Great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat job I loved how you did you google doc's. I did a blog and it was kinda scary for 1st graders. I wish I would have done something like what you did. It sound like your students had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Good job!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing that you had kindergartners on google docs! Was it difficult for you to get them set up at their stations and commenting on the document? Did they have trouble understanding how to use the tools on google docs?
ReplyDelete@ Stephaniemartinez: It was difficult getting them set up and having them navigate the page. At first they had no idea that you could change the color and the font. They thought it was the coolest thing thought that they were able to change those things. They had a blast and I hope they will remember the tools for later in their schooling.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! You lesson plan was very well thought out and seemed like it went really well. I really enjoyed listening to your kindergartens as they came up with a sentence of the rhyming words. This is such a great activity that gives them practice learning new words that rhyme. Your students really seemed to have fun with this and got exposed to a great technology tool.
ReplyDeletewow your lesson was great for Kinder!! I bet they did love it! Good job! Was is difficult to get them to understand how to do it, or did you have to keep repeating yourself over and over? It was kifficult for my second graders, so I can't imagine doing it with Kinder! Great job though!
ReplyDeleteI really liked your final presentation! It was something the students could really sink their teeth into! I really enjoyed watching it too! It would have been really neat if you could have had the students create their own pictures and write out their sentences too. I bet if they had their own sentences to read you would have been able to support them through the sentence recording a little better. They came up with the cutest sentences! I loved it!
ReplyDeleteWow ya'lls work is impressive! It came together perfectly, and I'm sure you're planning was the base for its success. Was there anything you would have done differently? Kudos to you for introducing web 2.0 tools to the little one's!!
ReplyDelete@ Kathy: I did have to repeat myself a lot and some of them were scared to press a button and see what would happen, but they did have fun and learned a lot about computers.
ReplyDelete@ SPEDteach: If I would of had more time or it would have been my classroom I would of had them draw their own picture and practice their handwriting then they could record the sentence they wrote down about their picture. Other than that I would definitely recommend introducing computers to the students at a younger age.
Hey Amanda how exciting it was I am sure for them to all be able to work on the comupter. I know in my classroom (Prek) they love working on the computers and looking at their friends screen, wanting to be on the same page. I was thinking of doing this for my class but I don't think they are quiet reading to work this advance on the computer without any assistance. Great Job and hopefully you can continue this in uyour future classes :)
ReplyDeleteI like the kindergarden ryming idea im sure you did a great job wish i could have been there to observe
ReplyDeleteGreat job Amanda! Your students did a great job! I did a voicethread in my Pre-K class and the students absolutely loved it. They love being on the computer and they especially loved hearing their own voices. I'm glad you lesson went well!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the thread... you did an amazing job with the thread.... please dont get mad if i steal it from you :)
